However, in September of 2003, Avalon Hollywood arose from the construction jumble to become the next premiere nightlife destination north of Hollywood and Vine. Beyond Avalon Hollywood's refurbished double doors, the entertainment complex features a large main dance floor with two opposing bars and an exclusive, upstairs lounge and intimate dance area known as the Spider Club. An inner eatery called Cafe Royale resides near the Avalon entrance, tempting hungry patrons with a full menu. Local preservationists will be pleased to note that Avalon Hollywood has taken pains to restore the Spanish Revival architecture that defines the exterior facade and which was buried under years of roughshod interior makeovers. In addition to its dance club events, Avalon Hollywood maintains a calendar of touring music acts, featuring top performers on its state-of-the-art stage.
