This article is about Vanilla in Windsor-Eton (UK)

Special events coming up at Vanilla over the next month

In just over 2 years Vanilla has redefined the face of Windsor’s nightlife. This opulent and stylish venue is not only ideal for private hire & corporate entertainment but has played host to numerous leading and established parties with an array of international DJs joining the core Vanilla residents each and every week.

As a regular at Vanilla we wanted to give you a quick run down on the special events coming up over the coming weeks so you can make a note in your diary and plan ahead so that you don’t miss out!

First off this Thursday 28th June we have a special 1 off event called ‘Soul Revival’. This Summer Soul Party will feature DJ Greg Edwards (Soul Spectrum radio show/ Capital Gold), alongside Timmy John, Dodger X, Mike ‘Soul Boy’ & Spee. They will be spinning 80’s Soul, Boogie & club classics, 70’s Funk & Rare Groove from 8pm – 2am. Hot weather, good vibes, happy people - there’s no better excuse for a sneaky ‘school night’ drink.

This is followed by ‘Hed Kandi’ on Friday 29th, when they return to us with DJ Jon Jones and Vanilla resident Marc James. Hed Kandi has been one of the most successful nights at Vanilla for a long time now, constantly delivering great music and an equally fantastic atmosphere. £7 tickets are on sale now from the office on 01753 831122.

The following week we have a very exclusive treat for you when we once again step back in time for ‘Reminisce’ our newly launched and already successful club classics night. This month, on Friday 6th July we are pleased to welcome the very, very musically talented MJ Cole to Windsor for 1 night only.

Although many of you may remember him as a pioneer of the UK Garage scene, MJ Cole has an unusually wide and all-encompassing musical knowledge; and is described as the ‘summation of musical excellence’. To get a little idea of what to expect from him on the night his top 3 classic tracks are Grant Nelson - "Spellbound", Fragmente - "Transistor Radio", Joey Youngman - "Brixton Bump”. So Join us and take a step back in time to the house that Jack built and celebrate the history of house at Reminisce.

Finally on Friday 20th July why not check out the launch night of ‘Funky 4 Love’. Funky 4 Love is one of the longest running and most successful Friday nights at Pacha London and we are very excited to have them join us with their very special guests Soul Avengerz. The Soul Avengerz have produced some of the biggest club anthems in recent years including the massive “Love U Feel” and if anyone knows the true meaning behind funky house it’s these guys and as they say themselves "We play it, we make it, we love it!”, so if you’ve never checked them out this is your chance.

For full listings check www.vanillabar.com or check us out on My Space and add us as a friend www.myspace.com/barvanilla. For table bookings or guestlist to these or any events at Vanilla speak to us in the office or email info@vanillabar.com. We look forward to seeing you all very soon.

instead of doing boring funky house nights you should start looking at other genres. windsor does not have a good liquid funk / drum & bass night and there is a lot of people who are into that who would turn up if you put something on.

no i dont mean all this horrible jump up MC driven drum and bass that is in the mainstream. im talking about the more soulful stuff with lyrics and live instruments in it.

the problem with windsor is its the same bars with different names that play the same music. there is no choice whatsoever.

i dare you vanilla go out on a limb and try something different im sure you wont be dissapointed. or are you purposefully trying to attract the over 35's males who wear white shirts and have a heavy cocaine addiction?

Other places have tried and failed, i think scotch do garage nights.

I dont think Windsor is that much of a crowd puller itself to host alternate music nights. The typical Windsor punter prefers a bit of house/electro so they go Vanilla/Havana's/Mantra and if they want RnB/Hip Hop/Garage then they go to liquid/Indigo/Scotch.

Also with the majourity of venues in windsor closing at half 2/3am i think most people find it easier to trek that little bit further for venues that play the different music and stay open much later.

I personally cant see any venues in Windsor doing a DnB night on a Friday or Saturday night, those are the nights which are always busy and coz of this the venues are gonna have djs playing music that 90-100% of the punters wanna hear.

Tough call i know if your a dj playing alternate music but at the end of the day the venues are gonna play what the punter wants so they get the money on the door/in the till, and for Windsor house music is the key.

People don't go to Windsor to listen to music they go to flash their mastercards wearing their £200 armani shirts trying to pull horrible orange plastic women.

People from Windsor who actually want to enjoy themselves go to other towns.

Hey Ant!,long time no speak my friend!,hope your well bro?.I must say that i totally agree with ant,and dissagree with dj linus and dan b,I know what you saying boys but the truth is Windsor is only a smallish town and the majority of the people are into there funky/soulfull house,so thats why the bars like vanilla/havanas/mantra and yellow throw those kinds of nights!,Iv'e known promoters to try dnb nights in windsor and it just doesn't really work!.im sorry but you just have to face the facts and accept it boys.
Hope to see you soon Ant!
Keep it real!

Plus guys if your saying that Windsor is full of "35's males who wear white shirts and have a heavy cocaine addiction?" and your also saying "People don't go to Windsor to listen to music they go to flash their mastercards wearing their £200 armani shirts trying to pull horrible orange plastic women."

Your kinda of insulting people that go out in Windsor and would be in the venues, that aint gonna do you any good if your trying to start a night up.

- Jay, nuff love mate its been a while, hope your cool and probably bump inta ya soon.

that ok cos we would never dream of doing events in windsor unless they were at a massive venue and with a massive lineup "ohh did i let the cat out of the bag" the fact is drum and bass does work the other fact is windsor promoters and nightclubs wont go out on a limb and test it they just want to conform.

sorry lads but i stand by everything that dan and myself have said. i have lived in windsor for the last 30 years and know what people are into.

windsor used to be god when the old trout was going and doing events. hell i even went and saw blur play there when i was a nipper.

yes windsor is a small town , but its a small town pretending to be a big town and it does a fairly shit job at it. you only need to look at the queue at ramseys on a friday or saturday night to realise that its full of twats.

real people who like real music dont go to windsor even though they live there, thats what im trying to get at. they dont like listening to this wishy washy house and there are only so many crystal waters gypsy woman remixes that you can make.

anyway crack on and we will see whos still running a successful night in a years time.

Don't mind linus he does come across like a twat on the internet a leeeetle bit. :P

Tbh I really can't stand windsor nightlife and I live here - I just don't feel welcome anywhere in town for a drink on a saturday night. Everywhere's full of pretentious wankers giving me looks because my shirt isn't designer enough. Do I really have to queue for 45 minutes to pay £8 for a vodka and coke?

",Iv'e known promoters to try dnb nights in windsor and it just doesn't really work!."
these guys were trying to put on the wrong type of dnb nights! I'm not paying £15 to see a crackhead mc shouting over a load of distorted beats that sound like they were made by an 8 year old.

I think the days gone by are well and truly over and windsor is not going to have any alternative music for the forseable future. I'm fine with that - London's only around the corner!

Understatement of the year- he's made you all look a bit of a joke... Nice one Dan though for coming through with something intelligent from your camp even though I dont agree with what your saying whatsoever- at least you put your point across in a mature way.

Never seen the Windsor thread so busy though! A good debate is always healthy...!!

i agree 110% with what dan said. windsor is crap , has no variety and the fact you have that strip of clubs along the arches you would think they would compete by having different music but they cant even do that.

windsor = fail

Not missing the point dude- making one... If your own pals think your a twat then what do you reckon everyone elses opinon is?? Re-read all your silly posts and think about the impression you have given everybody of yourself and your night. If you had come onto the windsor forum in a friendly mannor then you might have got some prople to try your nights at the roof and maybe have even made some contacts - but you came with an immature and aggressive attitude and basicly slagged off anything which wasnt drum and bass! Putting your own flyers over another night made you look even more two-bit and to be honest your just digging yourself a bigger hole with every post so I'm not wasting my time replying to any more. Hope you manage to lose the attitude mate and make a success of your night some day- PEACE...
